Abstract
The study of ichthyofaunal diversity of Siddheshwar reservoir district Hingoli, Maharashtra, this survey was carried out during the period of two years from January 2015 to December 2016 and occurrence richest ichthyofaunal diversity in Siddheshwar reservoir, a total 40 fish species belonging to 29 genera, 15 family to 9 orders. The order Cypriniformes was dominant with 18 species to be followed by order Siluriformes with 8 species, Channiformes with 4 species, Preciformes with 3 species while the orders of Clupeiformes and Mastcembeliformes 2 species, and rest of the orders Angulliformes, Beloniformes and Mugiliformes by single species. In reservoir most of the important fishes are abundantly found due to high primary productivity is occurring in the form of primary producers (Phytoplanktons and Zooplanktons). The further analysis showed that as per IUCN red list category 52.5% are least concern, 20.00% are not evaluated, 10.00% species are near threatened, 5.00% are data deficient, 5.00% are lower risk near threatened and vulnerable respectively as well as 2.5% are lower risk least concern. The study confirms that this freshwater body may prove congenial for conservation of regional fish diversity, especially for local and endangered fish species.
